MAKEUP WITH FRIENDS~

A chat with Sheri & Denise~As Makeup Artists & Beauty Enthusiasts, people often ask us about our favorite foundations, best mascara, favorite job, most famous person we’ve met, kit essentials and more..so we asked each other the most popular questions
SHERI KNIGHT - MAKEUP ARTIST

  1. FAVORITE SKINCARE? For face-RMS BEAUTY is one of my favorite moisturizers. I use the Kakadu Luxe Cream. It feels so luxurious, without the price tag of higher end brands. I love WELEDA Skin Food for body, it leaves the skin feeling buttery soft

  2. CONCEALER? I am currently loving HOURGLASS Vanish Airbrush and GLOSSIER Stretch

  3. SUNSCREEN? I recently discovered this super clean brand-
Sky & Sol. It’s so clean you could eat it…but don’t if you’re vegan!
    (it’s Tallow based)

  4. BEAUTY SECRETS? The LED Red Light face mask by CURRENT BODY- I find it to be the most beneficial with consistent use. I like using the HALO micro-current device from ZIIP for immediately noticeable facial contouring .

  5. FAVORITE WORK EXPERIENCE? Filming Shadow Force in Colombia! We spent part of that film shooting on a tiny private island off the coast of Cartagena. We spent our evernings and weekends at a five star resort on a nearby larger island, using our per diem to pamper ourselves. The job itself was challenging, but the people, the scenery and that resort were incredible-It was the most memorable time ~

  6. WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A MAKEUP ARTIST AND HOW DID YOU GET YOUR START?
I was 15 when I decided to become a makeup artist. I live in a smaller town an hour outside of LA, so working in the film industry wasn't on my radar- until I met a woman that was a hairstylist in the business. She talked to me about working in film and got me excited, then helped me pick a school to learn beauty and special effects makeup for the film industry (Westmore Academy).

I put myself through beauty school, then worked two jobs (a full time and a part time) in order to save money for film makeup school.

After finishing school and while I was trying to break into the industry, I was working at a salon during the day and waiting tables on Sundays. A friend asked me to cover her Wednesday night shift at the restaurant one week and I reluctantly agreed. As I was doing my closing work, a man came in to pick up a bunch of to-go meals... I asked him if he was having a party and he said that he was working on a little tv show (in my small town) and he was picking up their meals. I told him I was a makeup artist and he offered for me to come after work and he would introduce me to a producer. I did, he did, and two weeks later they called me to cover their makeup artist while she took a week off. I ended up working for that production company for the next 2.5 years! You never know where your breaks will happen!

    7. ALWAYS IN YOUR SET BAG? DERMACOLOR Camouflage Mini Palettes, They are great for so many purposes, Concealing hard to cover spots, bruises and even last minute tattoo coverage.

    8. YOUR GO-TO PODCASTS? Midlife Conversations with Natalie Jill is one I just discovered. It covers a lot of subjects but mainly women and aging. A longtime favorite-Realfoodology with Courtney Swan. I love learning how food affects every aspect of our body and mind.
    9. WHAT’S ON YOUR FOMO LIST?
Getting a Thermage Facial! It uses radio frequency to promote collagen, and many see lasting results after one session!

    10. FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING WITH ME?
You are easy going, go with the flow, and funny as hell! You made those long hours on Scandal manageable. Sometimes, when the hours were particularly hard, and one of us cried on the way to work, you always found a way to lift us up and make us laugh! Not to mention, you are an organized and competent Department Head, always looking for way to split the load, to make it as easy on everyone as possible. I'm so lucky to have worked with you for so long and to make a great friend in the process!

  5. TREND YOU’RE JUMPING ON? Face tape-that is my next purchase + LED mask..Unfortunately I will be late to this trend. I was really hoping a brand would send me one!! Hello out there?
I am getting some mouth tape as well from VIO2. It’s claims to help with sleep and snoring. I will give you a few strips to try if you want!!

  6. SUNSCREEN? I love everything Vacation Inc and Saint Jane Beauty on repeat

When traveling -My Silcskin Decollete pad & a notebook filled with must see coffee spots, shopping, beaches, hotels and more.

  8. FAVORITE SHOW EXPERIENCE ? MONK because Tony Shalhoub was the most professional, kind, humble, talented and generous actor ever and bonus, I got even more OCD than I already was-especially with milk and door handles..lol
OFF THE MAP because I got to live in Hawaii, surf, drink coconuts and add to my collection of life long friends. It was a dream come true and I will always have the fondest memories of that time in my life.

  9. ASK ME ANYTHING? From the IG poll- This is the most asked question from everyone we meet right? Who was your favorite actor to work with and who WASN’T nice?
I have a few and in no particular order-Tony Shalhoub as mentioned above. He set the standard for me on what a leader looks like (we call #1 on the call sheet) he was the ultimate example of professionalism and grace. Kerry Washington was a great example of this as well, as you know and a delight to work with. I loved working with Tony Goldwyn and Hector Elizondo. My fav girls Katie Lowes, Caroline Dhavernas, Danielle Savre and Rachelle Lefevre. We will skip the least favorites but FUN FACT- I can’t do makeup on people I don’t like. My eyeliner brush gets stuck and there is no flow or glow. If I don’t vibe with you, I have a really hard time vibing with your face!! True story~

  10. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING WITH ME? You get me. You handled my ADD//OCD-which as we know, gets worse with lack of sleep and overwhelm. You always took over and handled situations when you knew I was ready to crack. Scandal was hard, had it’s challenges and Oh the stories we could tell!! The fact we survived and remained friends says A LOT!!
I’ve been told my face says it all and you can read that face but mostly, I always knew you had my back and in a world of backstabbers..that means a lot.

                                                               FRENCH FARMACIE
